VII. Sárkány - Aranytíz International Master Tournament and VI. Budapest Open

 

Date of tournament: 19-28th August 2016.
Place of tournament: Aranytíz House of Culture, 1051 Arany János str. 10.

Purpose of tournament:

To provide young players the opportunity to try themselves against experienced Grandmasters and International Masters, on the occasion of this tournament for GM and IM norms, organized by the Budapest Chess Federation (BCF), the Aranytíz House of Culture and Sárkány DSE. To strengthen chessfriendship.

Opening ceremony: At the 19th of Aug Friday, from 14:45 in the Theatre Room
Order of rounds: From 19th (Friday) to 28th (Sunday). Free day: 20th (Saturday). Games start every day at 15 pm except for the last round when game starts at 10 am. Forfeit time: 30 min.
Organization system: The GM and the IM tournaments: 9 rounds of round-robin. In the Open-A: 9 rounds, Open-B: 7 rounds of Swiss. Pairing program: Swiss Manager
Time rate: 90’/40 moves + 30’ for the rest of the game, with 30” bonus/move.
Judging of ties: In the master tournaments: 1. Berger-Sonneborn; 2. result against each other.
In the Open: 1. Buchholz; 2. progressive score; 3. result against each other.
Prizes:

 

In all groups: I. prize: Trophy. I–III. prize: medal.

In the Open (Group A and B altogether) tournament, the prize fund is 228 000 HUF (~735 EUR), if there are at least 50 and 30 participants. If fewer participants take part in the tournaments, then the prizes are lowered proportionally.

Participants of the tournament: Three Grandmasters and seven International or FIDE-Masters in the GM group. Three International Masters and 7 FIDE-Masters and master candidates in one or two International Master groups. No restrictions for the V. Budapest Open. The second master tournament will be held only if there are enough participants. Anyone can register for the VI. Budapest Open, but in Group B there is a rating limit of 1700. Only players born after 01.01.2000 can enter the Youth Rapid tournament. Anyone can participate in the Budapest Individual Blitz tournament.
Conditions of participation: At least 2425 ELO in GM tournament, 2225 ELO in the IM/A tournament, and at least 2175 ELO in the IM/B tournament. All players must have valid playing licence issued by the Hungarian Chess Federation (either Hungarian license or for foreign players, Hungarian license or FRD) with the exceptions of the participants of the Youth Rapid Tournament and the Budapest Individual Blitz.
Registration on the spot: In the GM- and IM-groups on the 18th of Aug at 5 pm at the tournament venue, this is also the time of the drawing of lots. In the Open-A group, on the 19th of Aug, from 1 pm till 2:30 pm. Those players who don’t register in time will not be paired in the first round. For the Open-B group, on the 21th of Aug from 1:30 pm till 14:45 pm.

All players are responsible for their accommodation, but can convey different proposals.
